We are qualified to assess and diagnose children (from the age of 2 ½ upwards), adolescents and adults who may have undiagnosed or suspected Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) across the UK and abroad using "Gold Standard" tools. We aim to carry out an assessment and diagnostic service that is reliable, communicative, and timely. We offer both routine or urgent assessments. All of our assessments are conducted jointly, which is beneficial for our own clinical practice and those we are assessing.
We also offer adapted versions of assessments for people with intellectual disability/learning disabilities who require a diagnostic assessment. All diagnostic assessments are based on the diagnostic criteria for ADHD and ASD using the ICD-10/DSM-5.
We complete assessments for legal (family, educational, criminal cases), NHS, educational or vocational purposes.
Tools we use:
- We use the Autism ‘Gold Standard’ tools ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) and ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Inventory-Revised), completed with clinical interview over several appointments.
- The Developmental, Dimensional and Diagnostic Interview (3-Di), an instrument for diagnosing and assessing autism in under 18’s.
- For ADHD a full comprehensive diagnostic assessment would occur over several appointments. It should be noted for ADHD we only provide the assessment, not medication, therefore we have clients come to us just for an assessment and will seek an ADHD nurse prescriber/psychiatrist for medication, or will return to the NHS for medication purposes.
Our 'Gold Standard' diagnostic reports have been accepted and praised by the NHS, local authorities, legal and other services. We follow NICE guidelines for our assessments.
