2006 Make School Make Sense

Our Make School Make Sense campaign, launched in 2006, aimed to improve the educational experience for autistic children in the UK. It brought attention to the widespread issues they face in schools, such as bullying, exclusion and a lack of understanding.

The campaign advocated for three key changes: local access to appropriate educational placements, compulsory autism training for all teachers and autism-friendly school environments. Backed by public support and parliamentary engagement, the campaign sought to ensure that autistic children receive the support they need to thrive and have their rights respected in education.
