Christmas 2022 - Sybil Elgar gets festive
Published on 09 December 2022
Time goes by so quickly. At the end of the year it is good to reflect on all the wonderful experiences our pupils and students have had during the year.
But the year isn’t over yet!
Here is what there is planned before we break up for the Christmas holiday on Friday 16 December 2022. Please see our term dates for more details on our term times.
Christmas Fayre at Sybil Elgar
The DT department has been very busy this term with making Christmas themed festive items to sell at the Christmas Fayre on Monday 12th December.
Please see the Christmas gifts catalogue if you are interested in purchasing any handmade items for friends and loved ones. Items will be on sale to parents and carers visiting the school on this special day. If you would like to order any of the items via the website, please contact reception who will put you in touch with the enterprise team.
There is a variety of items to choose from, from Christmas decorations and different types of hand-sewn felt ornaments to upcycled items and Christmas cards.
All profits are ploughed back into resources and tools. The enterprise team is expecting big things from their business.
Pupils thoroughly enjoyed using different materials such as felt, pipe cleaners, foam shapes, yarns and glitter to decorate and develop the skills of designing, cutting, joining, and problem-solving.
It is a wonderful time of year to work together and Sybil Elgar students sure have been doing that!
Christmas jumper day at Sybil Elgar
Christmas Jumper Day is a fundraising event held each year by Save the Children.
It’s a great chance to enjoy some festive fun while raising money to help children in the UK and around the world.
The first Christmas Jumper Day was held in 2012 and millions of pounds have been raised just by pulling on a sweater!
This year, Christmas Jumper Day is on Friday 9th December 2022.
A closing note from our therapy team
It has been a term filled with different emotions. From the death of Queen Elizabeth II to celebrating the new King. Now that we are entering into this festive period, it is important to remember that some people may find it all overwhelming.
Our Transdisciplinary Team provides useful information about this in their TDT newsletter.
Wishing all our wonderful students, staff, parents, carers and partners of the school a warm happy festive season.
See you in 2023!
