East Renfrewshire branch

We are the first 'autism specific' support service in East Renfrewshire. The branch is ran by a committee of autistic/neurodivergent volunteers and parents/carers of autistic individuals, who are fully trained. The branch offers autistic-led information and support sessions and workshops. We also offer online and in-person advice, signposting, peer groups and meet-ups.

Our branch is run by local volunteers and receives no core funding.

Supporting and empowering autistic individuals and their families within our local community

  • In August we launched our new resource lending library within VAER Barrhead. This has been a great resource and we are very thankful to Barrhead Housing Association who funded the project.

  • In August we started running our Coffee Break sessions weekly alongside our resource library.

  • Over the past 3 months we have had renowned autistic speakers Jodie Isitt, Grace Liu and Abdullah Shahjan delivering workshops.

  • In September we delivered a workshop in partnership with the NAS Education Rights team for parents/carers of young people who can’t attend school.

  • In October we delivered our 7th Stepping Stones course.

A huge thank you to all our branch volunteers who give up their time to enable all these events to take place.
