Our Theme for Arts Week was Nature and Pattern and the Method of Making was Collaboration and Experimentation. This was a whole school creative approach and all subject areas of the curriculum were included.
All staff took part in CPD sessions to feel comfortable and confident in being able to deliver individual projects based on the Theme. We had some wonderful examples of how students explored different materials and processes.
Artists/culture explored were Aboriginal Artists – Gloria Petyarre and Louise Numina, Andy Goldsworth, Jackson Pollock, Jon Foreman, Andres Amador, Claude Monet, Bruce Gray, Gustav Klimt and Takashi Murakami.
The students were able to explore hands-on approaches to the Theme and some of the processes used during Art Week were painting, construction, printing, flower pressing, weaving, digital computer art, shaped poems, automatic drawing, embossing, casting, collage and rubbings.
During Art Week students had the opportunity to engage in two different workshops run by external creative practitioners Kinetic Circus and Paperdashery.
All work created during Art Week was exhibited in our Summer Exhibition.
