The National Autistic Society’s Sefton group provides support for carers of autistic people aged 16 and over in the local area. We are also open to carers whose children are in the period of transition between secondary education and college. Sefton Group was founded in 2018, due to the recognition by carers that once their children reached the age of 16, many local authority and NHS services and support groups were no longer available to them. Our founding members recognised that many of the issues they were encountering were also national issues experienced throughout the UK. Our affiliation with the National Autistic Society allows our group to contribute to their ongoing campaigning on collective national issues affecting our adult autistic children. We hold monthly meetings to provide peer support through discussion, news updates and an open forum. These are currently being held via video. We always welcome and encourage new members to our group to give individuals the opportunity to be part of a collective voice within our community and for valuable peer support. You can find us on Facebook here -> www.facebook.com/NASSeftonGroup.
We cover Southport, Formby, Crosby, Waterloo, Bootle and all other areas within Sefton Local Authority border.
