NAS Thurrock was set up 9 years ago. We are run solely by volunteers and have to raise all our funds to put on our many activities. Our Volunteers are all parents of autistic children/young adults. We have all been through different journeys with our own families and have a great deal of knowledge between us. We are a very active group who are always trying to go that one step further to support our families. We refer to each other as our NAS Family; as corny as that sounds; everybody supports and looks out for one another.
We hold friendly monthly daytime and evening support groups at a hall in South Ockendon.
We regularly have speakers come to group who talk about a range of issues from Sleep, anxiety and Autistic adults speaking about their own experiences.
We run many different activities for our families - from parties, swim sessions and arts and crafts to group trips, of around 120 of us, to the zoo, Breakfast with Santa and the yearly local Pantomime.
No diagnosis is needed.
