Introducing our new Celebrity Ambassador, Cat Burns.
We are delighted to announce the BRIT Award-nominated singer-songwriter and The Celebrity Traitors Finalist, Cat Burns, is joining the National Autistic Society as a Celebrity Ambassador to champion greater understanding and acceptance of autism.
Cat first rose to fame with her platinum-selling viral hit, go, and has become one of the UK’s most exciting musical voices, known for her soulful storytelling and emotional honesty. Most recently, Cat was part of the all-star cast of The Celebrity Traitors and reached the nail-biting final earlier this month. After the show finished, it was revealed by the BBC that Cat was playing for the National Autistic Society.
Diagnosed as autistic and with ADHD in adulthood, Cat has spoken about how this helped her make sense of her experiences growing up as a Black woman navigating the world differently. She hopes to shine a light on the unique challenges faced by Black autistic people, whose experiences are often under-represented or misunderstood.
Through her role as Ambassador, Cat aims to use her platform to raise awareness, challenge stigma and celebrate the strength and diversity within the autistic community.
Caroline Stevens, Chief Executive of the National Autistic Society, said: “Cat is an incredible role model for autistic people and we are delighted to welcome her to our charity as a Celebrity Ambassador. It’s so important for public figures to share their experiences openly so that more people understand autism, what it’s like to be autistic and to encourage more autistic people to share their stories too.
“We are very grateful to Cat for the time and support she’s giving to the National Autistic Society to encourage autism acceptance. We look forward to working together to create better public understanding of autism and to help to transform autistic people’s lives."
