The National Autistic Society Northern Ireland runs an Adult Mentoring program for Autistic adults aged 18+. Mentoring support is provided on a 1:1 basis and is tailored to each individual’s needs and strengths, addressing sensory issues, social and communication skills, accessing the community, as well as stress and anxiety. The programme is designed and bespoke to each individual. Specialist mentors, trained to provide advice to Autistic adults are present to offer support and information that can help an autistic adult with independence skills. Our Skills for Life Programme is for 13-17 year olds. It is a 12 week programme that focuses on areas such as self-esteem, anxiety management, personal hygiene, managing household chores, money management, travel training, internet safety and social skills. Teenlife training runs alongside our Skills for life young people and is a programme geared for parents of Autistic Teens. The aim of the programme is to bring parents together to share information, experiences and ideas. Teenlife emphasises the importance of autistic perspectives.
