The National Psychology Clinic

Main information

Type of service: Interventions and therapies

We provide evidence-based psychological therapies for adults with and without a confirmed autism spectrum diagnosis (who may have mental health conditions, such as anxiety, worry, stress, low mood, ADHD, OCD, traumatic stress, low self-esteem, relationship issues, anger or impulse control problems). The National Psychology Clinic provides a range of multidisciplinary team (MDT) services for adults with suspected autism or who have been diagnosed with an autism spectrum condition, and their families.

Therapies provided include cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), systemic and couples therapy, schema therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, compassion-focused therapy, social skills interventions, and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR). We also offer a post-diagnostic group periodically for adults.

We can deliver training to professionals working in health and social care, and the prison service; for example, to enhance awareness of autism and common co-occurring conditions, and how to adapt standard service provision and psychological therapies so that these are better tailored for people with autism spectrum conditions. We also provide consultation and supervision for staff teams.
