Organise a quiz
Organising a charity quiz is a great way to raise money in a fun and very sociable way. You can host your own or approach a venue that hosts a regular quiz event to see if they could offer the entry proceeds and collections to your fundraising.

A step-by-step guide to organising a quiz
-
Find a suitable pub, workplace, school or hall/community space. Consider costs, if any, and everything else you’ll need like equipment and accessibility. Then find a date that works for the people you plan to invite and gives you enough time to advertise. If an online quiz works better, see our additional handy guide here.
-
Writing a quiz takes time and research. Make sure you do your fact-checking, use reliable sources online and include a good mix of questions and interesting rounds to keep people engaged. If you writing it yourself, you can use our editable quiz template.
-
You can raise money by asking people to ‘pay to play’: set up an online giving page for advance bookings and take cash for late arrivals, which you can add to your page later. You could also hold a raffle and sell tickets during the quiz with a winner announcement at the end. See our guide to raffles here. Don’t forget to factor in overhead costs when setting your fundraising target.
-
Who will you invite? Ask friends, family and colleagues to promote your event at their school, workplace or in their community. You can also share on social media, create posters to advertise locally, ask the venue to promote the event and look for free ad listings in your area. We can provide a press release template to send out to local outlets. Lastly, do share your online giving page with anyone who can’t make it that might like to donate anyway.
-
Plan how you will mark scores and appoint a volunteer to help. Have a cash float and system for different donations. Use reliable equipment for any music rounds where you need audio. Have some words prepared for any gaps in the proceedings and make sure you have plenty of pens and printouts!Be confident about what the National Autistic Society does and where your money goes.
Be sure to thank everyone who helped you by donating to the event, volunteering or bidding on prizes. If you can include a link to your fundraising page, your thank-you might even spark some last minute donations.
