Our charity’s Radlett Lodge School has said goodbye to a long-serving member of staff who has retired after an impressive 45 years with the school.
Angie Beasley has retired as Senior Learning Support Assistant at the school, which supports autistic children and young people aged from five to 19 years old. The school is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and Angie has supported students there for nearly its entirety.
A special assembly was held for staff and students to thank Angie for all of her hard work over the last 45 years, where she was presented with gifts, flowers and handmade cards from the students.
Angie has worked in different classes throughout her time at the school. Most recently, she supported children with practical skills, including cooking, learning how to be safe in the kitchen, and gardening, both at the school site and at allotments in the local village. She taught children about planting flowers and vegetables, as well as creating produce which could be used by the school or sold at the local market.

Over the years, she has seen visits from high profile visitors including Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal.
Angie Beasley said: "I will miss the buzz and activity of the school because it's quite bustling and very lively. The students are my favourite part of the job without doubt. I do think they're the best. As staff, you work with them a lot of the time, a lot of hours, and you get very fond of them. The staff also make the school special, we’ve got a really good quality of staff."
Stuart Mainwaring, Principal at Radlett Lodge School, said: "Angie has been with Radlett Lodge almost the whole time that the school has been here. She has supported and changed the lives of so many autistic pupils over the years. We had a lovely assembly and it was great to say goodbye to her and a huge thank you for all of her work. We are so grateful for everything Angie has done for our school and she will be missed."
Angie plans to spend her retirement travelling in her touring caravan and gardening. She will keep in touch with the school and continue to help with the allotment.
