Amy is a Principal Speech and Language Therapist with over 15 years’ experience across a range of health and education settings and in multidisciplinary teams, and extensive experience in diagnosis and therapeutic input for autistic young people and associated neurodevelopmental differences. She is particularly adept at providing holistic, comprehensive assessments in complex cases and currently practices both independently as well as part of a leading tertiary NHS service for children with complex neurodevelopmental conditions.
Amy is trained and experienced in administering and interpreting gold-standard assessment measures used in Autism Assessments, such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) and Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI-R). Amy is highly adept at assessing children’s language and communication skills and in diagnosing and advocating for children with Language Disorders. Amy has completed extensive postgraduate training in evidence-based interventions such as PACT (Paediatric Autism Communication Therapy) Attention Autism and PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System).
Amy is a registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists, Association of Speech & Language Therapists in Independent Practice and the Health and Care Professions Council. Amy has a record of leading and influencing practice at a national level. She is the founder of a national Clinical Excellence Network for Speech and Language Therapists who specialise in the diagnosis of Autism and other Neurodevelopmental differences, expanding the network to over 500 members across the UK during her five-year tenure as chair.
She has worked alongside the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists and NHS England in updating national frameworks and guidance for Autism Assessment and sits on the advisory committee of the national Autism Practitioner Network. Amy is highly skilled in providing training to parents as well as a broad range of professionals in health, education and beyond. In addition, she provides clinical supervision, training and mentoring to other Speech and Language Therapists as well as participating in research. Amy is passionate about providing meaningful, evidence-based support as part of a compassionate and thoughtful service.
