The name of the unit for pupils with autism is Socialise Learn Interact Communicate (SLIC) at Langafel. The provision has 17 places which are split into 2 classes. There is a quiet room, a time out room and 2 classrooms. Staffing ratio is 2 class teachers and 6 Teaching Assistants (TAs). There is a speech and language therapist 2 days a week. All mainstream facilities are available and use by Provision staff and pupils - Information Computer Technology (ICT) suite, gym, Design and Technology (DT) room, kitchen, performing arts room, playgrounds and outside apparatus. At lunchtime pupils eat with mainstream children. Inclusion is planned individually according to need. This ranges from 100% to short sessions. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. Pupils have access to all mainstream clubs.
