The name of the unit for children with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is The Spectrum Centre. There is a Unit on the site of the mainstream, mixed and comprehensive school. The school emphasises integration and inclusion. There is a high staff ratio and all staff have formal autism specific training. Integration is on an individual basis. Pupils must have a statement of special educational needs (SEN) indicating primary need is an ASD. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. The school provides training for local schools.
