Neurotribes Counselling with Annalisa

Main information

Type of service: Counsellor

As a Neurodiverse Counsellor and as a Parent-Carer myself I come from a place rooted in compassion, gentle curiosity and lived experience and I would like to support you to find a way forwards. Our work together will be as unique as you are. This will involve an integrative approach, drawing on a range of techniques from talking therapies such as Person Centred Counselling to utilising a Creative toolbox. Perhaps you’re struggling to find the right words or make sense of your experience. Working creatively can offer a transformational opportunity to understand yourself more fully, to become aware of your behaviours and to focus on what brings you meaning and purpose in life. Sessions are always led by you. Neurodiversity is a way of describing the naturally occurring variation in the ways that our brains work. This includes Dyslexia, ADHD, Dyspraxia, Autism, Tourette’s syndrome, Dyscalculia as well as Neurotypical individuals. This may impact on information processing, attention, mood, communication, coordination and social interactions and your relationship with yourself and others. Together we can look at Neurodiversity and what it means for you alongside any other area of your life that you would like to explore such as identity, anxiety, loss or parenting. My own particular interest lies in supporting those who identify as autistic females. Whilst diagnosis is not a service I offer, we can look at screening questionnaires specifically designed to identify behaviours and abilities in cisgender (a person whose sense of personal identity and gender corresponds with their birth sex) and transwomen that are associated with autism. This may provide a platform from which to decide if diagnosis is something you’d like to pursue. It can also provide us with areas of difficulty or strength you may wish to explore in our sessions together. Some of the ways in which we might work together by drawing on a Creative Counselling approach: • Symbols, breathing & art for grounding • Exploring Archetypes & their meanings to you • Mind, Body & Feelings – listening to intuition • Therapeutic Writing • Visualisation • Nurturing exercises to support trauma work • Working Creatively with Fairy tales, Stories & Characters • Connecting with characters as a healing tool • Exploring your life through Cards, Photos & Images • Working Creatively with Art & Colour • Therapeutic use of Mandalas • Working Creatively with Clay • Sand tray work • Working Creatively with Nesting Dolls to explore relationships
