Type of service: Family support and information services

The Parent Enabler Project (PEP) provides support to families who live with in NHS Greater Glasgow area and care for children up to the age of 19 who have have communication support needs because of deafblindness, sensory impairment, learning and physical disabilities. Any member of the family can use our service, including parents, carers, brothers, sisters and grandparents. We can visit families at home and it is up to you how much support you need, how often you want it and when you want it. Some of the ways we may provide support include: giving information about services, resources, benefits and useful contact addresses; providing support at assessments, meetings, reviews and appointments; finding opportunities to build positive relationships between disabled and non-disabled brothers and sisters; offering practical ideas for play and communication; giving access to the toy library; and providing opportunities to meet other families.
