Local Governing Body
The National Autistic Society's Board of Trustees is accountable for all the Society's operations, but in order to manage its responsibilities, the Board has established a number of committees to focus on specific areas. One of these is the Education Quality Development (EQD) committee which is charged with governance of the Society's schools.
In order to provide the close oversight required to ensure high quality day to day governance in each and every school, the EQD has established local governing bodies (LGBs), each of which is chaired by a trustee who sits on the EQD committee. Our scheme of delegation sets out the relevant roles and responsibilities of all those involved in the governance and operational management of our school, ensuring clarity and a shared understanding of who is responsible for what.
Our LGB provides local governance for the school. Its principal functions are to:
- support the Principal and Senior Leadership Team in the delivery of the school’s mission and vision
- provide constructive criticism
- monitor the wellbeing and safety of the pupils
- monitor the educational achievement of pupils
- represent the school to the local community, including the business community
- support the development of the school as and when opportunities arise.
The Chair of the Board is Janet Corcoran, MBE (Chair) - Link EQD Member
The Clerk is John Green, the School's Business and Finance Manager
