Pledge guidance, rules and FAQs
Thank you for your interest in our It's How Your Show Up campaign. Whether you're here to show support, share your own experience, or ask for understanding, you're helping create a society that works better for autistic people.
If you’re thinking about making a pledge - or you’ve already submitted one - this page has everything you need to know. It explains what happens next, how to write a great pledge, what to avoid, and answers to common questions.
What to expect after you've made a pledge
- Once you submit your pledge, our team will give it a quick check to make sure it follows our community guidelines.
- You’ll get an email and/or text with a link to your pledge as soon as it’s approved, usually within 2–3 working days.
- If there’s a reason we can’t publish it, we’ll let you know by email.
Tips when writing your pledge
- Speak from the heart – Your pledge doesn’t have to be perfect, it just needs to be meaningful to you.
- Big or small, it all counts – Whether it’s a quiet change in your daily life or a bold act of advocacy, every pledge matters.
- Keep it natural – write like you speak. Everyday, honest language is more powerful than something overly formal.
- You can also ask for support – If you're autistic, you’re welcome to use this space to share what helps you and how others can show up for you.
Things to avoid (important)
To help us publish as many pledges as possible and keep this space welcoming for everyone, please avoid including any of the following in your pledge:
- Personal or identifiable information about yourself or anyone else
- Harmful, offensive or inappropriate content
- Promotional messages (products, company plugs etc.)
- Content that doesn’t relate to the spirit of showing up for autistic people
- Medical or legal advice
Where your pledge might show up
Pledges will appear publicly on our website and may also be shared on our social media channels or in campaign materials.
- We will only use the first name or the initial of the person who adds a pledge on social media
- We will not use pledges on social media that include identifiable details about anyone
- Our social media channels are X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Threads

We want to contact you following your pledge to talk to you about other ways that you can help us create a society that works for autistic people.
During this conversation, we will also discuss with you the possibility of donating to the National Autistic Society.
However, please know that there is no obligation to contribute if you’re unable or don’t feel comfortable doing so.
-
You can contact us by calling 0808 800 1050 or emailing supportercare@nas.org.uk at any time to let us know you would rather not be called or emailed by the National Autistic Society, or third-party fundraising agencies that are working on our behalf.

Check your spam or junk folder just in case.
If it’s not there and it’s been more than 2-3 working days, feel free to get in touch so we can check the status of your pledge.
