The people who live at Brooklyn Heights are encouraged to live a positive, meaningful and independent life.
Brooklyn Heights is a community-based service where support may be offered up to 24 hours a day. The primary aim for this type of support is to enable the people living here to become as independent as possible, promoting learning and development upon existing life skills.
Each person engages daily with a variety of activities, from developing domestic tasks to volunteering work to clubs & activity centres. Each person's programme is individual to their interests and goals.
At Brooklyn Heights we support individuals to engage more with the community and encourage development of peer networking with other local services as well as the wider community.

The criteria for a referral to this service would be someone over 18 years old with a diagnosis of autism. Funding from a local authority or health trust would need to be in place.
This vacancy will suit a male of any age who enjoys their own company and isn't looking to forge friendships or actively engage with thier housemates. There is not much in the way of communal activities on offer within this supported living service and interests of the people who live at Brooklyn Heights include motorbikes, music and actively enjoy a community presence. They prefer to keep themselves to themselves and and therefore anyone moving would need to respect that.
Access to shared support is available for 13 hours per week the remainder is currently unsupported or targeted 1:1 support. At night there is a sleep in support staff member available.
In England the regulatory body CQC is ensuring support providers are providing local services for local people. Therefore when we receive a referral from outside of the local authority area where our service is, we need to demonstrate we have taken steps to explore meaningful family links or connections to the area. We would also need a clear rationale from the funder as to why they are seeking an out of county placement. Therefore not all referrals may be considered for each NAS service.
