Camlann (short breaks)
Main information
Type of service: Respite and short breaks
Camlann House is a short break centre for children and young people aged between 5- 18 years with complex needs including autism. The centre is open 5 nights a week throughout the year, and has four beds available. It aims to provide a homely environment where safety, security, and happiness are paramount while encouraging socialisation and life skills. The centre also promotes accessing community based activities wherever possible. Increased levels of support from staff can be made available for children or young people with additional or more complex needs, but the centre generally has 3 staff on duty at a time during waking hours, and 1 waking and 1 sleeping member of staff at night. There are both men and women in the staff team in order to provide a balance and appropriate role models for children of both genders. Staff are also subject to a full and comprehensive training programme which enables them to meet the needs of each individual in the most productive way.
