Cheshire House

Main information

Type of service: Residential services

Cheshire House in Greater Manchester consists of eight self-contained flats and provides residential accommodation and nursing support for individuals with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs, including behaviours which others might find challenging.

With a focus on Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Active Support and a dedicated learning disability nurse within the support team, there is a strong person centred approach to meet individual’s complex needs and goals.

Designed to meet the needs of individuals who fall under the Transforming Care agenda, Cheshire House offers specialist support and positive behaviour intervention for up to eight men and women in their own flats.

Cheshire House is a community based non-hospital service which provides an opportunity for people who find it difficult to share a household with others to have their own living space and support, while benefiting from the backup of a nearby team.

Cheshire House is a valuable specialist resource which bridges the step between hospitals and supported living settings, it’s a place where people can experience having their own flat in the community while benefiting from the enhanced levels of support that a nurse led service is able to offer.

The input of our Positive Behaviour Intervention team helps the service focus on building the skills and strategies that individuals need to maintain and build upon their lives in the community.

They are actively encouraged to enjoy activities of their choice and to gain a greater level of independence.
