The Regional Centre supports learners on the autism spectrum throughout City College Norwich. The Regional Centre for Learners with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (RUGROOM) has been developed to provide a specialist facility for students on the autism spectrum. It is a uniquely designed space that promotes social communication and interaction and is a place for students to retreat to if life at college becomes too much. The room itself houses two pods, seated areas, a kitchen and a games room which all provide safe areas to work, relax, unwind and de-stress as and when the students need to. Students can either access mainstream college courses and be supported through the centre or opt to be part of the ASD specific course Phoenix Purple. The Centre offers in class-support, off-course support, group or 1:1 support and social and communication support. All support is tailored to suit each individuals needs. Applications for mainstream courses must be made using the application gained directly from college or the City College Norwich (CCN) website. For applications for Phoenix Purple we advise applicants to make contact with their Guidance Adviser who will assist with the application process. If there is not access to a Guidance Adviser then please complete an application through the usual procedure. To ensure access to support please make sure you complete the declaration, stating your diagnosis when you apply. The College uses the SPELL framework. Volunteers may be accepted.
