Counselling Therapy Online for Autistic Adults

London, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Surrey

Main information

Online Counselling and psychotherapy sessions are available for autistic adults, and Life coaching and business coaching is available for people with ADHD. Sessions are from 9 am to 9 pm weekdays and they are online using Zoom. I am the therapist and coach that you will see for your sessions.

I am Vauna Beauvais, MSc Psych. I have been seeing clients for 24 years, and I'm a UKCP-registered psychotherapist and a qualified coach. I am autistic and an ADHD-er, which I discovered when over the age of 40 (more than 10 years ago). Not every autistic person wants or needs therapy, but of those that do having a trustworthy and relatable person to speak with and focus on improving mental health and emotional wellbeing can be valuable.

Finding a psychotherapist who understands autistic norms and yet respects the perspectives of each individual client is important for feeling heard and taken seriously. Moreover, a counsellor who is neuro affirming enables the therapeutic space to feel safe, and allows for an opening up. Being in a therapeutic relationship that is an equal partnership allows for discussions of exploration and a strong sense of having personal choice about framing your life. When coming to therapy there may be a few areas of concern, or there might be simply one main focus. The things can be about relationships, workplace issues, or other domains of life. And the things that we talk about might include struggles such as energy management, the impact of the social world on you, confusion about certain events, stress distress or anxiety that you experience now or in the past, reviewing your life now through an autistic lens, practical ways of knowing more about yourself, and of getting your own needs met in better ways while still being mindful of social harmony, and many other types of things besides those that I have just mentioned.

If you are thinking about having therapy and would like to know whether it would be beneficial for you, please do email or message me to enquire. When in sessions with clients I endeavour to make our chats feel relaxed. I am a person who honours all lifestle choices and ways of self-expression. And while acceptance and listening are hugely important for conveying importance and acceptance in all kinds of ways, I feel that what is also beneficial is for me, the therapist, to respond and interact and contribute to the discussions that we have, as well as you talking.

If it's coaching that you are interested in, rather than therapy, we clarify the things that you find difficult or challenging (for example feeling like you want less chaos and more a sense of being on top of things, or perhaps you seek ways to prevent disaster when something crucial gets 'forgotten'). And then we work together to tailor solutions to fit the way that you live and do things already, so that what we introduce sticks and actually does work for you to bring about improvements. In addition to improving ways of doing things so that life is better and less stressful, we can also talk about relationships and ways of managing those for betterment.

Please get in touch by email or message to book or make enquiries.
