Drive enables people with disabilities to live full and valued lives. Our focus is on positive outcomes for individuals, and enabling people to achieve their full potential, while exercising choice and being actively engaged in all aspects of their lives. Drive has a very experienced, committed and highly trained workforce, and the organisation benefits from low turnover in relation to sector averages.
Drive works with individuals with autistic spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, challenging behaviour, OCD, SIB and anxiety around change. We work with individuals, families and multidisciplinary teams to gather information, conduct sensory assessments, design communication assessments, and create activity plans replicating familiar routines and exploring new opportunities for individuals.
Drive works in a person-centred way using active support approaches effective in supporting individuals to learn new skills and increase levels of independence.
Communication systems are determined by individual assessed need. Examples of some of the approaches used include - visual choice systems, symbols, picture boards, PECS, and iPad technology. Trained and qualified staff complete a functional analysis, behaviour assessment report and comprehensive positive behaviour support plan for individuals whose behaviour can challenge. Detailed support plans ensure consistency of approach.
Volunteers may be accepted to work with the service users.
