Eagle House School is an independent special school for pupils aged from 12-19 years. All pupils have a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) or a related social and communication difficulty. Pupils with high functioning autism or Asperger syndrome may join the 'Bridge' group, which offers specialist provision for pupils who would benefit from a more mainstream placement and access to a General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) curriculum. Pupils requiring an approach that gives them an opportunity to establish and generalise core academic and life skills may join the 'Steps' group. Teaching staff are supported by the school's own multidisciplinary team which includes speech & language therapy, occupational therapy, music therapy and psychology. We understand the importance of a holistic education programme for young people with autism and Asperger syndrome and we have a number of specialist curriculums that parallel our core academic curriculum. This provides pupils with the skills and experiences they need for transition. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. The school uses the Structure, Positive (approaches and expectations), Empathy, Low arousal, Links (SPELL) framework.
