Falkland House School provides education and care for boys from early primary age to 18 with a range of additional support needs, mainly related to Autism. We offer a combination of day, 39-week and 52-week residential places for boys who have struggled to access education in a mainstream environment.
We use a holistic, person-centred approach to support the development of our young people, including individually tailored education plans, social communication skills and an extensive independence development programme which encourages young people to progress to positive and sustainable destinations.
Our classrooms consider the sensory needs of our young people, with our curriculum offering a very practical and project-based learning style to engage young people. We offer a broad range of qualifications from National 3 to Advanced Highers, alongside National Certificates at levels 5 and 6 through our School-College partnership.
Outdoor learning plays a big part in the life of Falkland House School, with young people supported in a range of outdoor activities that help to develop their self-confidence and social skills as well as physical wellbeing. Additionally, our Outreach Programme is well established and supports children, young people and their families at the weekends and throughout school holidays.
Our on-site clinical team consisting of Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Educational Psychology and Psychotherapy, work with our education and care teams to create an environment that removes barriers to learning and enables children and young people to thrive. Our clinical team are strongly embedded within the service and work on a 1:1 basis as well as delivering group social communication classes and supporting the delivery of an interoception curriculum.
