This is a large primary school with over 400 pupils. The nursery unit has 34 places. The Designated Special Provision (DSP) unit has 24 pupils and these are integrated into a mainstream school as early as possible. The DSP pupils then share a full time learning support assistant within their class with 1 or 2 other DSP children. Integration is 70%+ where appropriate with work stations and the Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped CHildren (TEACCH) approach being used within the class setting. There are opportunities within the DSP unit for small group teaching as appropriate throughout the week.
