Hoo St Werburgh Primary School and Marlborough Centre is a large primary school with an attached centre for children diagnosed as having autism. There are over 440 children on roll, organised into 14 classes with two classes per year group in the main school. The centre has six classes catering for 54 children. Each class group is provided with a teacher and a minimum of 2 Learning Support Assistants (LSAs). Most children follow a modified curriculum, those able to are integrated into Hoo St Werburgh Primary School or their local school for up to 60 per cent of the week, but many only attend for morning or afternoon sessions. Pupils are educated in groups with other pupils with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or in mainstream classes. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils.
