Karen Green is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with 17 years experience in the National Health Service and specialist expertise in assessment and intervention for child and adolescent mental health, autism spectrum disorders and developmental delay. ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE - Karen will initially explore your reason for seeking assessment and diagnosis, especially via a private route. She will initially be interested in what concerns have been raised about a possible Autism Spectrum Condition and by whom. If the private route continues to be preferred over NHS provision, and if indicated as a useful way forward, the individual adult and/or family will be invited to a structured assessment supported by use of the DISCO and formal cognitive assessment. For young people a home and school observation/liaison will be conducted where appropriate. A detailed family and developmental history is taken and consideration given to alternative/additional diagnosis e.g. ADHD, mental health issues such as OCD and depression. Karen works with a specialist speech and language therapist who is also very experienced in assessment and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Conditions. A detailed written report is provided and a subsequent follow-up appointment is scheduled for questions and clarification with the individual or family.

THERAPY - Karen's therapeutic work is based on training and extensive experience in well established psychotherapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Family/Systemic Therapy alongside specialist approaches for Autism Spectrum Conditions including PECS and TEACCH. Karen offers the full range of child, adolescent and adult work and also works with families and couples. Her broad training in clinical psychology and her expertise in working with children and families allows Karen to offer psychological therapies for mental health issues; physical health/pain; loss and bereavement; stress, anxiety and coping; depression; families who are separating/divorcing or when two families join together etc.
