Music Therapy is an evidence-based method of intervention where music is used as an alternative form of communication to engage and address therapeutic needs of clients. Clients can explore and express their inner-selves and their relationships with others within a therapeutic relationship built over time. Music Therapy has proven effective with people with: Adoption background, ADHD, ASC, Anxiety and other mental health needs, trauma, family and relationship difficulties, communication needs, behaviours that challenge, and many others. You can find more information about music therapy from our website www.keskarmusictherpy.co.uk or from the BAMT website www.bamt.org
Keskar Music Therapy provides music therapy to children, young adults and adults in Cornwall. We work with people in a relational, non-directive and inclusive way to encourage therapeutic change for children, young people and adults. Music therapy uses play and creativity with musical instruments, songwriting and listening to explore and work to make sense of experiences. Sessions are safe, secure and confidential, offering a supportive environment through client-led interactions, which can involve talking or silence as well as music, depending on client need. Clients do not need to have any musical ability, play an instrument or have a heightened interest in music to benefit from music therapy.
