Kodachi Special Needs Judo
Main information
Type of service: Play and leisure
The club meets at the Southville Centre on Thursdays, 6.30-8pm. Special Needs Judo can be recreational or competitive. There is optional grading (coloured belt). To comply with health and safety in sport regulations, we need a doctor's letter before you start. Students need to have a carer present during lessons. Each student is assessed, by staff with years of special needs experience, every time they attend. Teaching approaches can be discussed with carers, but the staff reserve the right to act in the best interests of all the students as advised by the BJA and their own experience and training. In the discipline of Judo, students will learn about respect, consideration, self-control and hygiene. All students must become a member of the British Judo Association to continue training with Kodachi. There are some costs involved: a weekly fee of £5, and eventually you will need to buy judogi (outfit) and zori (footwear). We ask each student to join the Southville Centre where we meet. If you are interested, please call and have a chat or come along and see us in action. The Group is registered with the British Judo Association and is a registered charity (Reg Charity No 1110282)..
