We are a multidisciplinary and professional team who specialise in the assessment and diagnosis of children and adolescents who present with Autism and social communication difficulties. At ‘Lorna Muir Speech Therapy’ we not only assess individuals but also offer post diagnostic support including treatment and training to care givers or education staff. This support can be offered within our Giffnock based specialist clinic, or within the child’s own home, nursery or school.

The diagnostic assessment is carried out by two skilled and experienced Autism specialist professionals. This includes administration of various assessment tools including the ADOS-2. This is an activity-based assessment designed to assess social communication, interaction and imagination. The ADOS is considered the gold standard for ASD assessment, however this is only part of the overall assessment. It is important to consider all other information from parents and education when concluding a diagnosis. In addition to this the clinicians also have the opportunity to consult with a qualified Clinical Psychologist if required.
