Newcastle Shared Lives Scheme
Main information
Type of service: Outreach, Respite and short breaks, Befriending/mentoring
Many people with learning disabilities need help and support from people in their local communities. Some need support for just a few hours a week or a few weekends a year, while others need somewhere to live long-term. We recruit carers to provide day care, short term and long term care for people who have learning disabilities. They need someone to introduce them to different experiences or activities. They need to develop practical and social skills and enjoy life in the community. Joining in new activities would allow them to be more involved in their community. The service is also valuable to the person's family who we aim to work with. We can offer carers training, support and payment for the care you provide.
