Autism Service Directory

Nisai Virtual Academy (NVA)

Main information

Type of service: Online services

The Nisai Virtual Academy is an award winning online learning community and real-time teaching environment. They provide live, online teaching in order to provide quality education to young people who are unable to attend college. The service is used by a number of people with autism and Asperger syndrome.

Post-16 Education for Learners with Learning Difficulties or Disabilities (LLDD): Nisai Learning has been helping Education Authorities and schools throughout the UK since 2001, supporting and teaching young people who are not attending their mainstream classes for a number of reasons. The majority of our pupils are of school age, but for those with health issues who may have missed large parts of their schooling, completing their education after 16 can prove difficult. Catching up and moving on to Further Education can seem an impossible dream especially as the months pass, which is where we come in. In the Nottingham area, post 16 students are also accessing our vocational centre, the Nisai Learning Hub, working through Nottingham Futures.
