Oakfield House School
Main information
Type of service: Day schools, Schools
The Willows is set within the grounds of Oakfield House School in what was the school’s former stable block. The Willows at Oakfield House School is a place designed as an autism specific discrete facility annexed to the school. The Willows has two separate areas. One area is able to support children with Asperger syndrome and higher functioning autism and the second area specialises in supporting children that are more complex and more impacted by their autism. The Willows enables Oakfield House School to more fully support children that require intensive help for their additional needs. The Willows has a higher level of staffing and therapeutic input to enable the children to achieve. All learning targets are personalised and include comprehensive assessment and support from a range of therapeutic professionals including Educational Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) within a total communication environment. All children have a communication programme overseen by our SALT within a calm and supportive environment. Sensory diets are available for all children. We have staff skilled in a range of intervention programmes and in many cases a child’s home based programme is continued where this is deemed appropriate. All staff in The Willows have expertise in working with children. Parents can feel confident their child is receiving the support available.
