Main information

Specialist Counselling for Autism. Suzanna De Silva - Counsellor.

Neurodivergent people often grapple with mental health challenges in a world that doesn't always align with their unique needs. Drawing from my extensive experience working closely with autistic adults, I believe that counselling can be a crucial step towards achieving mental well-being.

I do not view autism as a problem to be “cured”. Instead, I recognize neurodivergence as a valuable aspect of human diversity that deserves acceptance, nurturing, and tailored support. Being autistic means viewing the world through a different lens, with its own unique strengths and challenges. I help neurodivergent people to be themselves, to move in the world with greater ease, and to feel good about who they are.

I can support with issues including:
Dealing with feelings around being diagnosed
Coping with overwhelm
Navigating interpersonal relationships
Managing anxiety
Adapting to change
Exploring sensory needs
Masking - and safe unmasking
Boosting self-esteem

If you've received an autism diagnosis in adulthood or are currently in the process of exploring one, you may feel a range of emotions. Whether it's relief, validation, anger, or sadness, expressing these emotions can be crucial for moving forward. Neurodivergent counselling can help you understand your diagnosis, its implications for you, and how to live life with greater self-knowledge, self-acceptance, and confidence. Greater self-awareness can help you to accept yourself while also being open to positive change. Meeting new people – particularly at the beginning of a new working relationship – can be daunting. I want to make our first meeting as easy as possible for you.

Contact me with whatever form of communication you are most at ease with — email, text, call, or voicemail — and let me know how you'd like me to respond. We can begin with a free 20-minute consultation, providing you with an opportunity to meet me and assess whether you think we're a good fit for working together.

I work in Godalming, Guildford and online:

The Guildford Institute, Ward St, Guildford GU1 4LH
