Southampton Adult Autism Assessment Service

Type of service: Assessment, Diagnostic services, Family support and information services
Provides a diagnostic assessment service for adults suspected of having an Autistic Spectrum Disorder, registered with a Southampton City GP and who do not have a Learning Disability. (People with a Learning Disability will be eligible for assessment through the Community Learning Disability Teams). A Multi-Disciplinary Team Clinic is held once a month. The team includes a Consultant Psychiatrist, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist and Specialist Practitioner (RNLD). Written referrals are accepted from GP's or by mental health or learning disability services if the person is already getting care or support from them.
Follow up service: Provide family, staff and organisations with advice and information. Can make referrals after an assessment to other health and social care services on person's behalf.
Multi-disciplinary assessment: Yes - Consultant Psychiatrist, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist and Specialist Practitioner (RNLD).
