Specialist Autism Services (formally known as Sacar) was established in 1999 in Bradford due to increasing demands from parents/carers of people with autism. We are a non-profit organisation that works for and with adults on the autism spectrum. We make a positive difference to the lives of our members (service users). Using a person-centred, strengths-based approach, our experienced and highly trained staff team create opportunities for our members to build confidence, develop social and communication skills, increase independence and employability skills which empower them to engage with new opportunities, make informed choices, achieve their goals, maximising independence and inclusion. We have sites in Bradford, Shipley, Leeds and Halifax, and Hubs in Keighley and Calderdale. Through Autism Reach, our online workshops, we are able to provide support to people in any geographical location.
We provide a range of services including group social skills workshops (through an autism-specific learning programme), online social skills workshops (Autism Reach), information and guidance, autism-specific counselling, employment support, and autism awareness training. Under the name Autism First, we also provide bespoke support for adults with autism and additional/complex needs.
