The name of the unit for children with pupils with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is Turtles Class Specialist Resource Base (SRB). Children are mainly educated within the ASD unit but visit and work in mainstream classes where they are able. Children from the mainstream classes may come and work alongside children in the ASD unit. Wherever possible children from the unit will mix with their peers. The school does not specifically use the Structure, Positive (approaches and expectations), Empathy, Low arousal, Links (SPELL) framework although all work within the principles of this. Another intervention, approach and programme offered by the school is signalong and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).
