ViTu: Mr Smith's Visual Tuition

Main information

I am a qualified (QTS) Teacher 20+ Years' Experience with full DBS providing personalised, specialist tuition using innovative visual methods to boost attainment and self-esteem across the UK. I am experienced with ASD, ADHD, PDA, Anxiety, Trauma and Mental Health, both from within a mainstream setting (where I was a class-teacher, Literacy and ICT lead) across the Primary age-range and then worked as a special-needs support teacher, helping to understand, coach staff and inform adjustments for pupils and a special needs setting (where I delivered a range of subjects for pupils in a secondary age-range).

Sessions are typically either 55 minutes or 25 minutes long, depending on the needs of the pupil and combine a focus on the child's existing interests and skills with expanding those interests and skills in a way which takes into account their emotional needs. The 'visual' aspect of 'Visual Tuition' is crucial as ideas and concepts are created on screen in real time. I love working this way and, from feedback I have been given and testimonials, it works particularly well if children have experienced school-based trauma. It is a way of building back and has been effective in either supporting pupils who learn from home, have recently re-entered school from a home setting or for whom their setting is a source of difficulty.

Visual Tuition is focussed very strongly on building confidence, self-esteem and self-belief, as well as acceptance.
