Meet Scott
Meet Scott, a Support Worker at our Catrine Bank service, and a keen footballer. During these uncertain times, Scott’s been putting his sporting skills to the test, and running through the hills of Ayrshire to raise money for Catrine Bank.
Catrine Bank is a residential centre for autistic adults, located in the scenic Scottish countryside. Scott has been working at the service for just over a year. He has accomplished so much in the short time he has worked at the service, and is now a key worker for one of the adults he supports. Scott’s Team Leader, Donald, tells us: “Since the day that Scott joined the team here at Catrine Bank, he has shown passion and dedication to his role as a support worker. He has worked hard to improve the quality of life for the people we support and recently became a key worker.”
When Scott isn’t busy working, he enjoys playing football, and is a member of the Cumnock Amateurs team. Scott’s love of football and all things sports related inspired him to kickstart his own fundraiser. He’s been running 5k a day throughout May, in order to raise money for Catrine Bank. So far, he has run over 50 miles and has raised over £1,000, which is an incredible feat. Scott’s goal is to raise enough funds to buy some outdoor equipment for the people he supports.
Like many of us, the autistic adults at Catrine Bank are going through some major changes. As the pandemic continues, many of them will be missing their families and loved ones, and struggling to adjust to the change in routine. We are so thankful to all the staff at our services, who are working hard to support our residents during this difficult time.
I want to do something special for them as they have already done for me. To be able to give something back to this truly amazing service is the least I can do and I hope in some way it will bring about a feeling of solidarity and kindness.
