Fenella Cannings-Jurd
Fenella has been the National Autistic Society’s Safeguarding Advisor for Children and Young People since 2022. Before that, she was a local authority social worker working with children and families, particularly disabled children.
Fenella is autistic, diagnosed as an adult. She also has other disabilities and chronic illnesses.
Her role at the National Autistic Society involves preventing and responding to safeguarding concerns about the children and young people the charity cares for, educates and supports. She supports staff at an individual case level and reviews policy and procedures.
Outside work, Fenella is a football fan, particularly following the women’s game. She can usually be found with her cat and a good book.
