Tom has been the National Director of Learning Disability and Autism for NHS England since October 2021. Working with colleagues in NHS England and partners across the health and care sector, he leads the work for NHS England on improving standards and health outcomes for people with a learning disability and autistic people. Before taking up the post of National Director, Tom was Chief Executive of Hertfordshire Partnership University Foundation Trust, rated as ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission in 2019. 

Tom began his career as a mental health nurse and has a particular interest and passion for improving the outcomes, health and life opportunities for autistic people and those with mental health challenges and learning disability.
