The National Autistic Society is hosting its first ever Branches Award Ceremony
On 7 June 2022 we shine a spotlight on our National Autistic Society branch volunteers across the UK.
Caroline Stevens, our CEO, and Stephen Ladyman, our Chair of Trustees, will host the ceremony. The awards will celebrate and recognise the amazing achievements of our branches, our branch volunteers and the work they’re doing to transform the lives of autistic people and their families in their local areas and online.

Award criteria
Branch volunteer of the year
This award recognises a volunteer who has made a positive impact on their branch, fellow branch volunteers and their branch members around them by being inspiring and exceptional.
Autistic branch volunteer of the year
This award is open to any branch volunteer who is an autistic individual, this category is to recognise their dedication to branch volunteering.
Young branch volunteer of the year
This award is open to any branch volunteer age 25 years old or younger, this category is to recognise a young person who has shown a real commitment to branch volunteering.
Most imaginative branch fundraising event
This award is for the branch that organised the most innovative and imaginative fundraising event.
Outstanding branch event of the year
This award recognises the most outstanding branch event of the year.
Most imaginative online branch activity of the year
This award is for the branch that organised the most inventive and imaginative online branch event.
Outstanding branch campaign of the year
This award recognises the impact of a branch who has championed and campaigned for the rights of autistic people at a local or national level.
Outstanding branch community impact award
This award recognises the contribution of a branch who have used their initiative and made a difference to their local community.
Long-standing commitment to National Autistic Society branches award
This award is open to anyone who has volunteered within their branch for 10 years or more, and has made an outstanding contribution to their branch.

1. Can we nominate for more than one category?
Yes, you’re welcome to make as many nominations as you like.
2. Who can nominate?
We welcome nominations from anyone.
3. We're not sure which category to nominate under. What should we do?
When applying please make sure you read the criteria specified for each
category. For example, Branch Volunteer of the Year recognises an individual volunteer. Most imaginative branch fundraising event recognises an entire branch.4. We have additional evidence to support our nomination, can we send this to back up our entry?
You can also submit up to two pieces of supporting evidence to demonstrate the impact of your nomination. Examples of supporting evidence include artwork, photos, videos or testimonials. Please note: supporting evidence is additional information that may not be fully considered by the decision panel.
5. I am finding completing the nomination the form difficult, can I get assistance to complete the form?
If you would like someone to either post out a paper copy of the form or complete the form on your behalf, please email us to get assistance.
6. What is the closing date for applications?
28 April 2022. The decision panel cannot consider applications received after the deadline so please leave yourself plenty of time to apply.
7. Who will decide on the winners of each prize?
The decision panel will select all winners. The panel consists of the Branches Team: Tom Purser, Sarah Morgan, Annie Dax, Hayley Waghorn, Keya Chanda, Nellie Allsop, Natalie Rupik, Patsy Devlin and Stephane Guidon and National Autistic Society Trustee Dr Sophie Castell.
8. When will the awards take place?
The award ceremony will take place online (on Microsoft Teams) on 7 June 2022
at 7pm.
