Action for Children runs over 50 projects supporting disabled children and their families in the UK. These include: residential short breaks; family-based short breaks with carers in the local community; day care services including after-school clubs and holiday play schemes; supported housing schemes for young people; advocacy schemes; resource centres and key worker schemes offering families a single access point to services, promoting greater inter-agency coordination; specialist play, learning and leisure facilities; opportunities to access a range of social and leisure activities in the community; advice and guidance for young people and their families as they make the transition to adulthood and greater independence; home-based care, outreach and family support services, including support with personal care, sitting services, play sessions and palliative care. As well as providing specialist services, Action for Children promotes access for disabled children, young people and their parents/carers to all their services. Volunteers can be accepted to work with service users.
