Barnsley Parent Partnership Service is provided by Barnsley Local Education Authority especially to work with and help parents and carers of children with special educational needs (SEN). We work with parents, carers, schools, early years settings, the Local Education Authority (LEA) and others to make sure that children and young people with SEN are helped in the right way. What exactly does the Parent Partnership Service do?: Talk with you - by telephone, meeting, email, letter or fax communications; Support you at meetings with school or the LEA; Give you advice and information about what you can do, the school can do and the LEA can do to make sure your child is helped; Help you to be part of making decisions about your child's education; Provide you with a volunteer who can support you in your individual situation - these volunteers are called Independent Parental Supporters; Provide you with information about specific disabilities/conditions and Local and National Organisations which might be able to help you; and Provide training where appropriate. What is Parent Partnership not able to do?: We cannot take sides; We will not talk about your situation to anybody without your permission; and We cannot influence benefits or housing decisions.
