Baskerville School is a maintained day and residential school for 11 to 19 year old students with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). The school serves Birmingham and the West Midlands. The ability of the students range from above average to students with complex learning difficulties. The school has a satellite base at the local Further Education (FE) College and a close partnership with a local high school where some students attend on a part or full time basis. The school provides weekly boarding, extended day provision, after school clubs and a summer scheme in the summer holiday. All students follow accredited or examined courses from 14 years onwards and have the choice of a range of vocational courses. Volunteers may be accepted to work with the pupils. The school uses the Structure, Positive (approaches and expectations), Empathy, Low arousal, Links (SPELL) framework. Respite services are also open to other pupils outside the school. Another intervention, approaches & programme is a trampoline. We also have an occupational therapist (OT) who provides sensory integration therapy. All students have to have an ASD in addition to the disabilities listed for this school.
