Beacon Reach is a children's home and school offering 39-52 weeks integrated, specialised and bespoke care, education, health and therapy services to up to 20 children and young people with complex learning difficulties between the ages of 9-19 years. Day education placements are also offered. Specifically, we aim to meet the needs of children and young people with autism spectrum condition (ASC) and moderate to severe learning difficulty, who may exhibit socially inappropriate or challenging behaviour. Now in its fourth year of operation, Beacon Reach is purpose built and set in 18 acres of grounds surrounded by farmland between the historic towns of Ribchester and Longridge in Lancashire's Ribble Valley. At Beacon Reach we value and nurture the unique qualities of all children and young people. We aim to provide high quality, person-centred care and education and strive to recognise every opportunity for each young person to develop and succeed, within a safe yet stimulating environment. Beacon Reach is in the second year of The National Autistic Society Accreditation Award Process. From a local authority perspective, children and young people placed at Beacon Reach are defined as 'hard to place' who, in Lancashire for example, qualify for the highest banding of need, and who traditionally have suffered breakdowns of previous placement within previous settings. Transition is carefully planned with multi agency input.
