Beannachar Camphill Community

Banchory-Devenick

Main information

Type of service: Day services, Residential services

A member of the Association of Camphill Communities, Beannachar offers residential and day places to young people aged 17 to 30 with learning difficulties. Our aim is to enable each individual to develop their potential and to mature, so as to become as independent as possible for their next step in life. By making space for everyone to make their unique contribution, and by involving everyone in decision-making, students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own lives. The students' Personal Development Plans are regularly reviewed together with everyone involved in their continued well-being. Because every student is different, their timetables vary as well, made up of a mix of work-experience, college courses, household tasks, therapies and our own independent living skills course. As Beannachar is an integrated therapeutic community, volunteers and staff live and work together with people with learning disabilities. Referrals can be made by Social Services, schools, parents or the individual themselves.
